hosting a professional development event in October. The topic is “Consultancy
– Life outside of libraries, records and archives”. We have gathered a panel of
library and information management consultants, who are ready to answer your
questions. Guests include Librarian Grant Stone and Gail E Murphy from
Information Enterprises Australia Pty Ltd (IEA).
Grant has worked as a Rare Books Consultant Librarian from 2011-2015,
establishing a purchased collection, from New York, as a working Library of
10,000 exceptional volumes in the field of Geology, Mining and Mining History
here in Perth.
Gail’s current role involves the coordination of IEA’s employment and
consulting services, providing consulting services to clients, as well as
developing and presenting IEA’s records management training courses.

Gail’s experience within the records management industry is extensive, having
worked within the public and private sectors for over thirty years. Prior to
her employment with IEA Gail worked as a Librarian in the public library
environment and as a Records/Information Manager in State government, local
government and the resources sector.
Grant has been building Murdoch’s Popular Culture Collections since 1974
particularly in the areas of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Comic material,
alternative counter culture and social change materials. Grant is a regular
contributor to public radio and an authority on science fiction, fantasy and
children’s literature. He presented the nationally broadcast, weekly
‘Faster than Light’ radio show until August 2012.
