ALIA Australian Public Libraries Alliance (APLA) – Achievements 2010-2015 #blogjune

by | Jun 15, 2015 | Uncategorized

The ALIA Australian Public Libraries Alliance (APLA) has just published a report highlighting its achievements from 2010 – 2015.    The ALIA Australian Public Libraries Alliance is the peak body for public libraries in Australia.  Our committee comprises the chair of every state based public library association, a senior representative from the ACT, Northern Territory and Tasmanian based library services, and expert members.  We represent 94% of all the 1500 public libraries across Australia through membership subscription.
APLA plays a vital role enabling support and advocacy for Australian Public Libraries, championing national and local projects.
APLA works towards united and common goals and ambitions, sharing best practice, as well as confirming the value of public libraries in contributing to strong communities, being valued by people and government, continuing to provide universal free access to information, knowledge and ideas, and confirming the importance of their role for future generations.
The committee thought it was timely to reflect and promote its achievements back to the industry after its first 5 years.
