What a way to end the year! The annual Great Library Quiz was held at the State Library on Thursday 6th December, and this year’s event was one for the record books.
Through the generous support of the 90+ trivia goers who packed out the Great Southern Room, a record amount – over $2,000! – was raised for the F A Sharr Award and Kay Poustie Scholarship.

The competition was fierce and it was anyone’s game for most of the evening, with two teams tied for second place until the final nail-biting decider round. The Great Guessbies (who were also awarded the honour of “best table name”) took out top spot after nailing the literature round, closely followed by Nathalie and the Maple Leaves in second place and the Kaotic Septagong in third place.

The quiz night would not be possible without the generous support of the SLWA and our fabulous donors, who provided all of the prizes, raffle and silent auction items for the night:
The ALIAWest committee would also like to sincerely thank our library colleagues and friends for attending and generously donating to the two very worthy causes that the quiz night supports: the Sharr Award and the Kay Poustie Scholarship fund. All of the funds raised on the night go directly towards these two awards.
Last but certainly not least, we would like to thank our marvellous “librarian by day, quiz goer by night” quiz master Lydia who kept the rabble entertained and mentally challenged all night, which was no easy feat!
The ALIAWest committee look forward to seeing some new and familiar faces at our 2019 events, but until then – have a happy and safe festive season with your loved ones.
