Ask and Answer PD Club – August session

by | Aug 8, 2017 | AskandAnswerClub, customer service, featured, Professional Development

Hello
friends,

August’s Session of the Ask and Answer PD Club has just been confirmed.

We will gather again on Saturday August 26th at 10:30 in the
Kimberley Room at the State Library of WA.

This month, we will be looking at customer service in libraries. We’re not
going to go into what makes good service, because as librarians I think we all
know how do to that. This session we’re going to focus on a few key questions about
what clients expect from libraries, and how that has changed over time. We’ll
discuss when to draw the line with client hand holding and when not to, and how
online tutorials or help guides work for some clients, and maybe not others.
This month I’m also making it open for you to submit your own questions to
throw into the discussion – so please take advantage of that.

We’re also going to explore one of the ideas from David Lankes’ talk; Eulogy for the Information Age: The Future
is Impact Not Access
from NLS8. I’m paraphrasing a bit, but one question he
posed was
“What relationship do we want with our
communities?” I would really like to know all the perspectives from people
working in different types of library services and see where we have
similarities and difference.
Please have a look at the talk at the following link

Looking forward to seeing you there
